is proposed to establish in Shanghai'· Imler En titing Company, with the
abovo tilte, indre belief this there is noŁ, only room, but astuni zescovity, for the a ditional facilities which speh ufijnstítution will afford to the large local, coating, and foreign trade which ocrites in this port..
The great extension of steen communi- cation both by sea and river, and the creu- tion of telegraphic notinentione, since the exfating Local Bank was founded, have greatly added to the importaroo of Sheng- hai; until it has become the grest depôt or distributing point for the trade of North- ern and Central Obina ; but, while it aceme. desirable that Shanghai should be the hend-quarters of the new Bauk, and is direction on the spot whore the principal intercate are involved, a local Committee will be formed in Hongkong for the pro- motion of the undertaking there,
The success of other public companies in Shanghai and Hongkong, and the evidenco of a large stin of money seeking invest- ment in China, encourago the belief that the proposed Capital for the Bank will be. readily subscribed; many influential native. merchants have already come forward Retive promoters and supporters of the undertaking, and the Committee, look for a very valuable constituency from Chiness
Ronroes.
The legal constitution of the Bank is engaging the consideration of the Com- ittes, and reference has been made to London and elsewhers for the best legal adrion upon the subject; and it is under stood that nu Shares will be alloted, nor will operatione ha commenced until the ne eessary arrangements have been completed, when further information will be laid be fore intending Shareholders. In the mean- time, applications for shorea ora invited, until the 15th April, 1872, but muat be sa the prescribed forms, which can be obtain-
ed from the secretary,
