IT is proposed to establish in Shanghai
above title, in the belief that there is not only room, but actual necessity, for the ad- ditional facilities which such của institution will furd so the large local, ousting, and foreign trade which centres in this post.
The great extension of steam communi- cation both by soa and river, and the crea tion of telegraphic connectious, since the existing Local Bastr was founded, have greatly added to the importance of Shang h, until it has become the great depot or distributing point for the trade of North- ern and Central China; bat; while it spea desirable that Shanghai should be the head quarters of the new Bank, and its direction on the spot where the principal interests are involved, a local Committe will be formed in Hongkong for the pro- motion of the undertaking thore,
The success of other public companiosia Shanghai and Bengkung, cut the evidence of a large sum of money seeking invast break in China, encourage the belief that the proposed Cupital for this Bank will be readily subscribed; mimy influential natire merchante, have already come forward as aubive promoters and supporters of the undertaking, and the Committee look for a very valuable constitueney from. To legal constitution of the Bank is engaging the consideration of the Com mitter, and referonce has been unde to London and elsewhere for tho best legal advice upon the enlgest; and it is under. stood that no bare, will be alloted, nor will operatioza.be commenced until the ne cessary arrangements have been completed; when farther information will be ladd be fore intending Shareholders. In the mean time, spplications for shares are invited, until the 15th April, 1872, but must be on the presorito forms, which can be obtains ed from the Scoretary.
