Of the three pey steamers contracted for last spring, oring to great pressure of work in the steel for Urics and ship-building is, only one has been lauzobod. She has been named the Yangtze, and will be ready to take the Out- word loading borth towards the end of this month, The othe two it is hoped, will be launched and ready for son at an early date. The Board feel confident that these new large carrying powerful steamers will contribute materially to tho profitable working of the Company.
The Direstors have deemed it desirable to alter the mode of stating the cost of the Fleet in the Balance Short; and it will be observed that the amonat standing at credit of "De prociation, Boiler and Reserve Fund," has been dducted from the "Steamers Purchase Ac- count," thus reducing this item to £462,328 19 ga. It will also be noticed that they propose to carry from Inet year's profits, a further sum of £65,000 to this Accouif, thereby reducing the value of the ten steamers now. working, to £397,326 19%. 9.
