Regarding the arrangements made by my Predecessor, I have the honor to report that the last of the compensation claims entailed by the removal of the Chinese and others to Taipingshan has been concluded.

It gave me much satisfaction to be honored with your Lordship's approval of the measures connected with the removal of the Chinese and others to Taipingshan, as conveyed in despatch No. 70 of January 31.
I am happy to say that the arrangements were concluded before the termination of my Predecessor's tenure, and that I foresee no necessity for any further proceedings of the like kind.
