I have to acknowledge
the receipt of your despatch
of the 27th April last,
reporting
the instructions
which you had issued to the Treasurer of Hongkong
for levying the Income Tax from all public Officers receiving Salaries £150 per annum.
With reference to the concluding paragraph
of your despatch it is not necessary for you to particularize the day of the enactment, enclosing copy of the Act passed
by Parliament to continue the Income Tax. However,
