In reply to your Lordship's Despatch

No 65 of December 16th

"conveying the decision of the Treasury Board that all arrears

of Income tax must be levied from any person indiscriminately receiving more than £150

per annum, I have the honor to state that

accordingly, per instructions have been given to the Treasurer

and he has been further directed,

in any case where the whole amount

might press with peculiar severity, to obtain

the same by Instalments.

I may here add, that in the absence of the Parliamentary sanction

arising from information being received of

28th April, 1845.
