The explanations contained in those Deeds are sufficient, in the Opinion of H.E. the Governor, to justify the provisions in the Ordinance on which I had thought it necessary to suspend judgment. I have accordingly informed him that the Lieutenant Governor has been pleased to allow it, and confirms the Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance for the appointment and regulation of Native Chinese Peace Officers (Paou-chong & Pou-chai) within the Colony of Hong Kong."
