With reference to my Despatch. N79, of 1845, I have the satisfaction to state that the Opium farm has been sold by Auction under the provisions of
the Ordinance. No: 21 for the sum of 8,520 Dollars for a year, to be received by Government in monthly payments of 710 Dollars in advance.
The Contract is for the space of only one-year, commencing from Instant, and I fully anticipate an increase in the returns, when the nature of the agreement, and the profits of the farm are fully understood.
