As we (London and China Egrecaj have entered into contracts for, in all, four wit ready advised, the F. and 0. Company have steamers, of the highest class, similar in type to, but larger than, tho Celedonia, Australie, and Himalaya, now running in the Eastern services, and intended to accommodate about 500 first and second saloon passangers. These vessels are such 500 feet in length, with pro- portimate beam and power, measuring about 3,000 tons register, with machinery to indicate 11,000 horas-power. They are being built by Mestre.. Harbad and Wolff and Messrs. Chint and Cs, and the first two ships, which have been camed the India and China, will be ready for service during the coming antuan. The remaining two pacels will be delivered in time to commence work provious to the termination of the present mail contracts, which expire in January, 1896. These four new vessel will, like their predecessors, be driver by singlo sorow engines, but the distribution of power and smoothness of working will be insured by employing engines of the four cylinder tandam type. The first ship to be delivered will be the India, which will be launched on 14th of April, froin the building yard of Mosses. Caird and Co.
