The CHAIRMAN Gentlemen, with your per mission we will dispensa with reading the report and accounts, printed coples of which have boen in your hands for some time past. When we met together on a siműsor occasion to this about. this time last year I told you that 1884 bed bosa an exceptionally good yoar, but I am glad to my. that 1895 proved to be a still better year for us, and we are now compelled to consider the mucos ety for increasing our means of production before the demand overtakes the supply. At a private meeting hold on the 29th Februaty we consulted the sharoholders on the subject, and the result is the recommendation made to our report now before you. Of course we do not mean to spend all your money at once in the purchase of machinery. The money is invested to very good purpose just now, and except for the purchase of the land, which vo have now in land, and which it is im porative wo should soeurs at once, we shall gói very slowly to work in spending it. Our pro- spects for this year, 1895, are good, but I anat repeat that 1894 and 1895 ware exceptional years, the war and mbsequent operatiuus having brought in exceptional orders, which we cannot count on being repeated, and that you must not expect such results as those now presented will be obtained every year. There is little, I thin, in the accounts that requires explanation, but 1: to Amoy. : From Amoy to Swatow, think, and may remark that the old smuaut of 530 whish | foggy weather, with vivid Ughining, Frans Las been added to the reserve find since last Brothers wind increening to N.Ergale, high tos, socount is derived from unclaimed dividends, dull and overcast.
