Mr Treasurer Martin has found a person to fill the office of "Chief Clerk" in the person of Mr I. Denham, who entered on his duties on the 14th February.
I have brought before the Executive Council, on the 19th Instant, the inclosed letter from the Chief Magistrate, recommending a reduction in the Establishment of the Assistant Magistrate at Chekchu, to the extent of 1500 Dollars, and granting to Mr. Hillier an allowance of 50 dollars a month on account of the additional Expense to which he would be exposed by the change of his fixed residence from Chekchu to Victoria. Your Lordship's,
Most Obedient
Humble Servant
