With reference to my despatch
N°6 of the 25th November, stating, that Mr. William Mercer had been appointed as first assistant to the Treasurer, in lieu of the person who had been obliged by sickness to give up the appointment. I have now the honor to inform Your Lordship, that Mr Mercer resigned that office on the 31st January,
As besides giving very assiduous attendance during the few months in which he acted, W Mercer had also officiated for the Treasurer himself
