My Lord,

56 Victoria, Hong Kong,

21th January, 1845.

The Revenue from Crown Lands was estimated according to Your Lordship's Despatch No. 25 of August 14, at £20,000, being founded on the Expectation raised by my predecessor's Estimates. The last Sale of Land raised the rental to only £12,917; but other sources of revenue established since my arrival will already, on the most moderate Estimate, make up a total income of £20,000 from the commencement of 1845.
