Sir,
In reply to your letter of the 10th instant, I am directed by His Excellency the Governor to inform you that your application for an additional clerk was sanctioned yesterday in Council, pending a reference to Her Majesty's Government and that you are authorized to employ Mr. Nicol temporarily, at 100 Dollars a month from this date.
With reference to the statement contained in it that the Colonial payments for the current year will probably amount to £150,000 - His Excellency directs me to observe that by the Estimate furnished by yourself, The Honorable R. M. Martin, Esq.,
