The Honorable Major Caine,
Victoria, Hong Kong.
Sir,
Victoria, 6th May, 1844.
I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. 118 of the 30th ult., on the subject of Ive Boura's claim against the estate of the late Mr. Murray. It is presumed that you intended your letter to be submitted to the Governor, though there is no sort of allusion in it either personally or officially to His Excellency. I am desired to request your attention to being more explicit in future, especially in letters that are likely to form a part of a long and intricate legal investigation, upon which an ultimate decision may be required. Government have no orders to give you on this subject at present as Mr. Borra's prayer is entirely inadmissible.
