I have the honor to recommend that three of the houses situated above the Lower Bazaar which be procured at a monthly rent of Fifteen Dollars ($15) each, be hired for their accommodation until such time as the permanent Police Stations be built.

For reply I am directed by the Governor in Council to inform you that His Excellency approves of your proposed arrangement and is pleased to sanction the expense of Forty-five Dollars ($45) per month, for the hire of the three houses.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 27th Ultimo in which you request that His Excellency the Governor in Council will be pleased to sanction your entertaining at the public expense two messengers to enable you to maintain communication with this Office. In reply I am directed to inform you that His Excellency is pleased to sanction from this date, the sum of Twelve Dollars ($12) per month for the hire of two Coolies, which amount you are to include in the abstract of the monthly expenditure of your office and it will be paid by the Commissary General on your furnishing him with the necessary vouchers.
