I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your two letters of the 27 ult., forwarding Abstracts of the expenses incurred for cleaning and the hire of a boatman &c., for

the late building at present used as a Church. These Abstracts, the one including the period from the 12th of February to the 23rd of December, 1843, amounting to Fifty-eight Dollars and eleven Cents ($58.11), the other from the 24th December, 1843, to the 31st March, 1844, amounting to twenty-eight Dollars and eighty-nine cents ($28.89) together with a

Memorandum of the cost of Hymn books supplied by yourself for the use of the Church amounting to Fifteen dollars and a half ($15.50) has been sanctioned. His Excellency the Governor in Council is pleased to sanction, and Mr Stewart, the Financial Secretary and Treasurer, has been instructed to pay the several amounts on the necessary receipts being furnished. With regard to the charge for Hymn books which forms a somewhat irregular item in such Disbursements, I am directed to request you to cause the words "Church property" to be written in each and that you will be so good as to deliver them into the custody of the Clerk.
