At each of these positions a Serjeant and his Party are comfortably accommodated and His Excellency would feel obliged by the Major General issuing the necessary orders for that number of men, namely three Serjeant's Parties being furnished. Assuming that His Excellency's wishes can be complied with, the Chief Magistrate will be informed to that effect and requested to give to the Serjeants such instructions as he considers requisite.

The Major General is informed that these Guards are required at night only.

I am directed by His Excellency the Governor in Council to forward for your information the accompanying copy of a letter addressed to the Assistant Military Secretary to the Honorable Major General D'Aquilar, and I am to request that you will give to the three Serjeant's Parties thus placed at your disposal such instructions as you consider best calculated for the immediate protection of this town from nocturnal robberies.
