the Contractor Amoon in which he states that in consequence of absconding of Assam, who entered into Contract with Government for the formation of a certain portion of the

Queen's Road for the Sum of $920, he has himself paid $1200 in addition to $700 previously expended by Asam; that the Contract is not yet fulfilled; that the removal of one mass of rock will cost him $150;

and in Conclusion, therefore prays, that Government will repay

the

expense of completing the Contract.

His Excellency the Governor wishes you to make strict enquiries at No:62 644 as to the truth of this statement and to report, for the information of Government, the amount of money you suppose to have been already expended and also the sum which will be required for the completion of the work?.
