I am directed by His Excellency the Governor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 27th Instant in the subject of a boat being held at the disposal of the Honorable the Major General.
In reply I am directed to inform you, that the Governor considers that a Boat for the purely Military purposes described in your Letter should be furnished by the Commissary General under the orders and authority of the Honorable the Major General, in the same manner that all other Military charges are incurred.
