an additional piece of ground in the neighbourhood of the Roman Catholic Chapel. In reply I am desired to intimate that Government permits you to inform the Prefect, that the bit of Ground

described in

your

letter as

to

be granted to him; but the Prefect "will have

an

opportunity, if he wishes it, of purchasing the adjoining Eastern lot at the approaching Sale. Referring

to

your

observation in

the Prefect's letter as to two lots of ground having been granted to his Predecessor for a Foundling House, I am desired to observe, that Government is not aware

of any

lying to the Southward of the Chapel, and measuring

about 80 feet by 50, which is to be clearly understood to be held subject (as is the case with the site of the Chapel) to any Rules

that

Her Majesty's Government may hereafter think fit to prescribe for

and similar Grants.

With regard to the piece of ground to the Eastward of the Chapel, to which the Prefect's application expressly alludes, it cannot, under the explanation you

give

of such grant having been

sanctioned, and
