In reply to your letter dated of the 12th Instant and with reference to the charge of $60 which the Governor has been pleased to allow in your Estimate for the Contingent work during the month of January I am directed to inform you that His Excellency only sanctions that expense as a temporary arrangement, to be discontinued the moment the present pressure on the Land Department shall have ceased - His Excellency therefore directs that you continue to charge the Expense as a Contingency.
