I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 30th Ultimo, with an Indent and Bill for Medicines. The Indent will be referred to the proper Department to ascertain if it can be complied with from the Military Medical Stores; and in the meantime you may buy any Medicines that may be immediately required.

The arrangement you propose for the custody of the Medicine is approved, and an allowance of $20 per mensem is sanctioned as a temporary arrangement from the 1st of this month.

The Bill for Medicines already supplied to the Public servants by the Hongkong Dispensary is sanctioned, and herewith returned. It will be paid by the Treasurer to Government on being duly receipted, and countersigned by you as to its correctness.
