I am directed by His Excellency the Governor to acknowledge the receipt of your Letter No. 4 of the 18th Instant, and to acquaint you in reply that Mr. Cleverly's Salary as Assistant Surveyor has been fixed at £500 per annum, from the date he was appointed, that is the 23rd of September last.

The Treasurer and Financial Secretary will pay Mr Cleverly at the above rate on your quoting this letter.
