I am directed by His Excellency, the Governor to acknowledge the receipt of your
letter No: 175 of the 8th Instant representing the loss of Pay sustained by the Jailor
and Head Constable, James Collins, by his transfer from Private to Her Majesty's 18th Regiment.
His Excellency in concurrence with you thinks that the Salary at present assigned to the Jailor and Head Constables is inadequate, and I am to inform you,
that it has been increased to Fifty Dollars ($50) per Mensem from the commencement of the current quarter the 1st of July last.
