Government House Hong Kong 16th June 1843.
I am directed by Sir Henry Pottinger to intimate to you, that the services of yourself and Ensign Slade will not be longer required in the Survey of this Island and that, a letter has been this day written to Lord Saltoun to this effect.
Lieut: Bettsbailand and Lieut Sargent are to be attached to Majr Aldrich as Assistants in the Survey, and will receive further instructions from and through that Officer.
