In the mean time, however, I solicit Your Lordship's attention to my letter N. 186 of the 2nd instant, in which I assigned a large extent of Ground for Military locations, and also stated my wish to reserve the whole of the Land lying within what is called "Government Hill" for Civil Purposes.

I am aware that the Houses proposed to be built in the rear of the Naval Church are intended to be temporary; but even so, I have already received intimation from Her Majesty's Government that a Church is to be built in that very spot, which I had long since marked out and set apart for that purpose, and the Authority for commencing the Building may come by the Mail, which is expected.

Under these circumstances, hourly expecting other exciting calls on the Land that may be reserved for public purposes, and adverting to the inconvenience and expense to which the occupants of such temporary Houses might be exposed by having to quit at a moment's notice, I regret that it is out of
