I am directed by Sir Henry Pottinger, to inform you: that he has - with the Sanction of Major General Lord Saltoun, Commanding Her Majesty's Land Forces in China - been pleased to appoint you to survey the Northern Island of the Island of Hongkong from the Point Called "West Point," to the Eastern Elevation near the entrance of the Lyemoon Passage.
