It appears that a Fox could be derived from Revenue that on the Stone not repay the smallest possible Quarries would Establishment to superintende Aust levy it. Under these circumstances, the only thing that seems to be necessary is to Ensure at a reasonable fixed rate, and I have therefore directed in Concert with the Chief Magistrate, with the attend Persons who now open or work the Quarries which May be opened hereafter Shall furnish at a remuneratory price and description as to any quantity of Stone for the Public use being exercepted from all sorts of Taxes. This arrangement will leave open, as it is now, private competition, and who hitherto have been working the Quarries Earning a Livelihood.
