I have the honor to enclose a copy of a letter which I have received from Major Caine Chief Magistrate of Hongkong, applying for the services of Sergeant Berline of the to be lent to him. If Your Excellency will have the goodness to be continued at the disposal of the Government of this Island; and shall be much obliged by Your Excellency giving the necessary orders for the Sergeant to remain here, pending the Commander in Chief in India’s decision.
