I have the honor to acknowledge your letter of yesterday's date, transmitting the statement of the last sum of $5,000... placed in your hands to defray the expenses of your office, and making a new draft for $2000.
In reply, I have to observe, that the chief items of expenditure shown in the statement you have transmitted are, for advances on account of works for the extension of which contracts have been entered into, and for payment of Bills which are, or should be rendered to the Land Officer.
