The following report by the Captain Suporin- tendent of Police was wid on the table at the nieating of tho Legislativo Council yesterday --

Police Department,

28th January, 1890. SIR-1 bave the honour to forward, for the information of His Excellency the Governor, the Criminal Statistics for the year 1882. They show that 7,461 ones were reported to the Police during the list gear, boing a doorcase of 653 casas or 8.05 per cent, on the return for 1888. In the sub-division of those osses into Savions Crime (no called) and Minor Offences an increase of 457 chaos or 16.76 per cent, is found in Serious Crimes, and a deorosso of 1,110 cases or 19.54 par ont in Minor Offences. The proportion of convictions for Berions Crimes is 3 percent. higher than in the previous year.
