ALLEGED INTIMIDATION
Bight men were charged with intimidation. Leung Kwan, sontractor; said- that about a week ago he obtained a contract from Leng Ayon to complete the building of some houses in Wanghai. He employed over seventy men to do the work. They were living on the pre mis. On the same premises were about twenty on in the employ of Luk Pak Shap, who was the previous oputractor, Witness had told these men to leara gome time ago, but they refused to do. The sight prisoners were somÙ of the men. On the 22nd October about, mid night witness was in the house opposite when he heard a great naise. He went servas to the house and found prisoners and a number of other men thora. They gore accusing his men of taking the work away from them and threatened to beat them. Witness ordered the men to go away and made a report to the Police. Ince then his men had been able to cotia their work. The prisoners were briok, layers. When he took over tho contract he offered to take the bricklayers on, but theyre fused to work for hin and amid they would wait wtil Lak Pak Shan gas the contract back again. Witama then obtained :w men and this wh the beginning of the disturbance. Leung Ayen had just had libel ose again Lak Pak Sheo and Lok Pak Shan was acquitted. Wit news thught this had something to do with the. disturbance He had beard people say that Lak Pak Shan had won his case aul therefore, the work could not be taken from him. He did not know whether he had given orders to his men to interfere
