My Lord Blenheim Chusan 18th January 1842.

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your Excellency's letter of the 18th last from the Straits of

Gloucester, and am very glad to express my concurrence in the proposal Lieut Colonel Pattle relayed bringing

the head quarters of the Force to Hong Kong.

I have ordered the gentes to point out to me the works and Buildings at Hong Kong.

Should an officer be required to Superintend the progress of the works and Buildings at Hong Kong, I will request Major General D'Arell to appoint one.
