With reference to Sir H. Pottinger's despatch of the 5 May 1843 I enclose you herewith the Copies of two further letters which I have received from Mr. R. Webster on the subject of his claim to certain land at Hong Kong purchased by him from Capt. Michell.
As a long interval has elapsed since I referred this claim to Sir H. Pottinger, and as the question on which that claim depends has since been settled by the decision on the scheme of Military Defences for the Colony,
