Sir Robert Peel presents his Compliments to Mr Huttmann and in

acknowledging the receipt of his letter of the 12th instant, begs to acquaint him that the appointments connected with the public service in China are under the control of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs – Sir Robert Peel must therefore beg leave to refer Mr Huttmann to the Earl of Aberdeen to whom he has addressed the subject.
