Walking along the besob, he, Tespertare noticed the whole strand strewed with brokenHumidity pattery, earthenware, chica, &c., and at one place where the sea had enoroached, at a depth of tour or five feet from the sarface of the ground, there appeared what seemed to be the end of a wall. On enquiry he was told that the pottery was from an old town which existed in the time of the Paudyan Kiage. The antivne stated that cvjus were often found washed cal by the sea, and a quantity are given to Mr. James, which bad carions derioas on them, each us tieb, birds, bal- locks, and the masksy god Hanuman.
