ASTRONOMICAL PHENOMENON IN
VICTORLA.
MEIDOURNE, 17th March.
A curious astronomial phenomenon was wit- nessed to-day at Coleraine, Stawell. Talbot, Merino, and 8t. Arnaud. At about 4 o'clock, when the sky was dese, a huge moteurite of great brillianoy suddenly shot down from the hoavans in a westerly direction. The appostage of the meteoriis was described as Boing like ball of fire, or a daming brand. After day- sending for soms distance it exploded, leaving only a cloud of smoke and dust. It was seen at places far apart and the presumption is that it barat when high up in the heavens. No harm appears to have been dore. At Coloraine two distinct shocks liká canson reports were beard, and six minutes later at Stawell. Boreral hon- sas wore «hnkén At Merino a report like thun-j der was heard.
