remuneration to be made to the parties employed, according to the usual scale of pay in that Island. It appears that no charge is made for rent of the present Post Office, and that the expense of the present temporary establishment is at the rate of £361.8. per annum. I think there are no objections to Mr. Shakes being authorized, with the sanction of your Lordships, to carry charges from the Post Office until further Orders; but before any confirmation of the Establishment as permanent arrangement, I would suggest that Mr. Seater should be called upon to report whether the various duties of the Office can be promptly and efficiently discharged with the mentioned force, and what is the actual salary in Stirling for each party he proposes to employ.

With respect to the delay of the Postmaster of the Packet's arrival, it is evidently insufficient; especially on my scale of pay...
