I have made a suggestion to this effect to the East India Company; and I will

communicate with your Lordship further on this point when I shall have received a reply from the Court of Directors on the subject.

Iles to state that I have approved of the arrangements proposed by Sir Henry Pottinger for the receipt and delivery

of the

Letters at Macao, Amoy, and the four Consular Ports in China; and I have only further to add that His Lordship having been pleased to grant the continuance of the Establishment hitherto employed in the post office at Hong Kong, I presume, as the precise extent of that Establishment

is not stated, nor any amount of remuneration proposed for the Officers employed, that these points will form the subject of a future communication.
