In Hope. Frano Mr Brande yesterday on the effect of Melag. He thinks that the least inconvenient way of obtaining some assistance towards his passage and outfit would be half Salary, notwithstanding the existence in Hongkong of a person doing duties.

Forwarded by the Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to transmit to You enclosed Instructions for the Guidance of the Treasurer and Auditor at Hong Kong in the performance of the Duties of their respective departments, and for the Guidance of the Governor of the Colony with respect to the Deposit of Treasure and verifying Contents of the Colonial Chests, which have been signed by Their Lordships; and request that you will lay before Lord Stanley and move Lordship to cause them to be forwarded to the Governor of Hong Kong with the requisite Directions for the observance by the Local Auditor and Treasurer of the Regulations.
