But fading that public opinion was upon the side of the Peninsular Company, they having done their work so wall in the Mediter roos, the East India Company: in connection with Her Majesty's Government, invited public tenders for a service, not to Derabay, which would have been the natural line to take, but for & mail service to Arlan, Ceylon, Madros, and Cal- entts, with a branch line to Penang, Singapore, And Hongkong.
