And whereas by our Letters Patent bearing date the 5th
day of our Reign we did erect and constitute our Island of Hong Kong and its Dependencies into a separate Colony.
a. Designated as the Colony, Hongkong And by Jurisdiction
over our said Colony we did then direct and ordain that no other coin but the legal Coin of the realm may be used current "Hestared to be a legal Tender, without special Permission from us in our Secretariat
And Whereas it hath been represented to us by the Lords Commissioner of our Treasury that doubts have arisen, with reference to the terms of the said heretofore recited Proclamation of the 24 day of March and the 27th day of April 1842. respecting the sufficiency of tender of payment within our said Island and its Dependencies in British Coins, and it is Expedient that such British doubts should be removed; and that the regulations Regarding Standard of currency and Tenders of payment within our said Island should be assimilated to those of our other Colonies abroad.
Now therefore. We by the advice of Our Privy Council, have thought fit to declare and ordain, and by the advice aforesaid we do hereby Declare and Ordain, that from and after the date of the Publication in the said Government Gazette of this Our Proclamation, the said heretofore recited Proclamation.
