standing amidships within feet of prisoner. These men rendered assistance. I do not know their names. As far as I
have nothing to do with the dispute of
the ship. I walked aft, I believe,
without assistance but I was wholly engrossed
in securing
prisoner. After prisoner had been
standing
on the quarter-deck of the vessel. He was
bleeding freely. The blood was flowing
in the dress. He said that he was afraid he should not live. He
asked to bring
him aft, as he was
