Pottinger on the trial of Salvador Lacros for the murder of William Hopkins.
Ittitreft. Duncan Stewart Oliver is called into Court, sworn and deposes as follows. - I am Master of the English Brig Harlequin and was so in October last. The Harlequin lay at anchor the whole of the month; betober at hammo. hammo is about 117° East Longitude. It is within less than ten miles of the Mainland of China. I was on shore. Heard that the 2nd mate, Mr. Hopkins, had been wounded. I went on board. The wounds had been dressed. - I saw them two days after; they were severe and deep. I mean by severe that the edges of one wound were as if a knife or some instrument had been rugged or turned.
