To make known to the
Country Military Authorities in China, for the guidance of all Persons in the
Military service, the wishes and
commands of Her Majesty's Government on the points adverted to in this Letter, and their determination to enforce compliance from all Persons Engaged in the Public Service in
China and its immediate
vicinity.
A Letter to the same effect
has been written by Lord Aberdeen's direction to the Board of Admiralty.
