required by the said Superintendents, proceed to the Dominions of the Emperor of China, and shall have power and authority within the said Dominions, to inquire of, determine and punish, any crimes and offences committed by British Subjects within the said Dominions.
And the Right Honourable The Earl of Aberdeen and The Right Honourable Lord Stanley, (also known as) Lord Stanley of Bickerstaffe or more commonly as Lord Stanley, but here as Lord Hanley, two of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, are to give the necessary directions herein as to them may respectively appertain.
