a note from the Kowloon Bailiff How, in which
it was stated, that he received on the 12th day 11th Month of the present year (10th Dec. 1844.) a letter from the Colonel of your Honorable Corps, viz.,
that on the 30th day of the 10th month. (9th December) there reached him a dispatch from the British Magistrate, the contents of which were the following (here are the very words quoted.)
