"The first question the Committee proceed to consider and report on is "Whether there is reason to suppose that the occupation of the buildings in the Artillery square, has been attended with sickness beyond such as has prevailed in other buildings." Having examined the returns of sick of European and Native troops, occupying the Artillery square, West Point, Leighton's Hill, Kellett's Island, and the lines 44th Regt. M.N.S. the result of such examination is given in Tables 1&2, which in the opinion of the Committee give a tolerably just view of the comparative sickness and mortality at these different posts.
