With reference to the subject of Colonial Revenue, I have the honor to report the following arrangements.
The quarrying of granite being carried on to a considerable extent in this island, this seemed to offer itself as a source of income to a certain extent.
Tenenders were therefore invited, for the privilege of quarrying granite at a certain rate per annum, the licence to extend over one year. The highest offer made by any Chinese, was 800 dollars, and this was on the condition of one half of the money being paid in advance;
